🎲 JACK MITCHELL & THE LOST MARBLES

OFFICIAL BOARD GAME RULES


📌 1. OBJECTIVE OF THE GAME

Travel across the world with Jack Mitchell and his team.
Your goal is to collect all the missing marbles hidden on different continents and complete the journey back to the Finish Point.

The first player to collect all required marbles and return to the Finish wins.


📌 2. WHAT’S IN THE BOX

Your game includes:

✔️ 1 World Map Board

Continent-based world map (North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia).

✔️ 5 Character Cards

  • Jack
  • Lenny
  • Ollie
  • Imogen
  • Bernard the Dog

Each with a special ability.

✔️ Marble Tokens (99 total)

Each representing a marble from the storybook.

✔️ 6 Player Pawns

Different colours.

✔️ 1 Travel Die

Numbers 1–6.

✔️ Adventure Cards (50)

Used when landing on special spots.

✔️ Marble Clue Cards (99)

Each contains a riddle.

✔️ AI Box Feature (Optional Add-On)

Guides players with hints & story narration.


📌 3. SETUP

  1. Place the board in the centre.
  2. Shuffle the Adventure Cards and place face-down.
  3. Shuffle all Marble Clue Cards and place face-down.
  4. Each player chooses a character and takes their ability card.
  5. All players place their pawn on START (North America).
  6. Place marble tokens in the bag or bowl.

📌 4. HOW TO PLAY

Players take turns clockwise.

On your turn:

STEP 1 — Roll the Die

Move your pawn the exact number of spaces along the path.

STEP 2 — Resolve the Space You Land On

You will land on one of these:


🟦 A. CONTINENT SPACES

If you land on a new continent (Africa, Europe, Asia, etc.) you:

✔️ Draw 1 Marble Clue Card.
✔️ Solve the riddle OR trade with another player.
✔️ If correct, draw 1 Marble Token from the bag.

If incorrect, skip your next turn (lost in the city!).


🟨 B. ADVENTURE SPOTS

Marked by a symbol on the board.

Draw an Adventure Card:

  • Move forward/back
  • Lose a turn
  • Find a shortcut
  • Swap marbles with another player
  • Bernard finds a clue
  • Jack gives advice
  • Ollie narrates your next mission

🟥 C. HAZARD SPOTS

Storms, deserts, mountains.

You must:

  • Roll 4–6 to escape
  • OR lose a marble
  • OR return to the previous continent

🟩 D. CITY SPOTS

Major cities such as London, Bangkok, Rio, Cairo.

You may choose:

  • Buy a clue (one turn skip)
  • Swap 1 marble with bank
  • Take an extra roll

📌 5. CHARACTER ABILITIES

Each character has a unique once-per-continent ability:

JACK

🎒 Pathfinder – Move +2 spaces after your roll once per continent.

LENNY

🛠️ Gadget Boy – Re-roll the die one time per continent.

OLLIE

📚 Story Guide – Look at the top 2 Adventure Cards and choose one.

IMOGEN

Lucky Star – Automatically solve one riddle per game.

BERNARD THE DOG

🐾 Sniffer Dog – Pull 2 marble tokens when you solve a riddle; keep the best one.


📌 6. WINNING THE GAME

To win:

  1. Collect 1 marble from each continent (or more, depending on your rule choice).
  2. Return to the FINISH spot.
  3. First player to complete their set wins.

Optional:
All players can finish to calculate total marble score for extended gameplay.


📌 7. OPTIONAL AI BOX MODE

Using an AI Box inside the board game:

  • Reads your marble clues
  • Gives speech hints
  • Plays background music
  • Narrates chapters as you reach locations
  • Bernard barks when a marble is nearby
  • Unlocks bonus riddles with voice commands
  • Prevents cheating by confirming answers

This makes the board game feel “alive.”


📌 8. SHORT GAME MODE (30 minutes)

  • Only 3 continents required to win
  • No hazard spots
  • No character abilities
  • Fewer marble clues

📌 9. LONG STORY MODE (90–120 minutes)

  • Collect marbles in chronological book order
  • AI Box narrates chapters
  • Full hazard and adventure system in use
  • Every continent contains multiple marbles
  • Includes “Boss Marble Challenges”
